No way that New Mexico falls all the way down to a #5 seed. Right now, the Lobos have the #2 RPI, and the last 19 teams that finished at #2 in the RPI have been either a #1 or #2 seed (17 at #1, and 2 at #2).
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico's getting no worse than a #3 seed.
They haven't played since you commented on March 12th until 3:22PM PT. I have another update being published in seconds. Currently there a 4. Win the MWC and you'll be a 3 maybe a 2.
ReplyDeleteI still think New Mexico deserves a #2... but it'll probably take a Lobos MVC tourney title along with losses by the likes of Michigan State, Ohio State and Florida for a #2 seed spot to open up. Otherwise, it'll probably be a #3 for the team who won the #1 RPI conference by two full games.
ReplyDeleteThere is no difference between a 1 and a 2 this year. It has no impact this year, but remember to 2010 when New Mexico was a 3? Barley beat Montana and then got smacked by Washington.
