What You Need to Know About Canada's World Cup Qualifier VS Honduras

There is not much that compares to World Cup Qualifying. It is short, it only happens every four years and winning home games is almost a must.

Canada is 3W-1T-0L so far in Qualifying. Unfortunately, Dominica and Belize aren't your typical soccer powers. That being said, a win is a win when a team struggles to get positive media attention.

Lets get to the basics, Canada is playing Honduras at BC Place on TSN1, 3, 4 and 5. Honduras ended Canada's hopes of Qualifying for 2014 Brazil with an 8-1 loss.

This is a new Canadian team and the hopes that the new young blood that will hopefully provide the scoring touch that Canada has lacked in the last decade.

As I mentioned a few days ago, Canada is unbeaten in 10 games in competitive matches in Canada. The downside is they have collected 6 wins and 4 ties and to be brutally honest, those four ties have been the reason hasn't advanced further in World Cup Qualifying and the 2015 Gold Cup last summer.

Canada is 5W-7T-12L at this stage of Qualifying in the last 14 years. Not good, if that team was a Club team in a European league they would be fighting relegation.

Canada has a chance to win tonight, if you think otherwise, you are fooling yourself. Here is how I see the whole group turning out:

If these scores are Correct Canada would finish third in the group. That would not be enough to get Canada in the final round of qualification. Canada will struggle on the road still as they have a tun of things that go against them in Central America when they go down their for a World Cup Qualifier. In fact, if I was in Vancouver last night, I would have wanted to find where the Honduras team was staying and bang drums and set off fireworks to keep the team up last night. I know it sounds crazy but Hondurans did it to the Canadian National team in 2012.

Likely tonights game will come down to one key moment late in the game and if Canada can convert their chances into goals, they will have a chance to win.
