The New York Mets opened their 2023 campaign with a thrilling 5-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Max Schezer was stellar through the first five innings before a blip in the sixth that allowed Miami to tie the game at three.

The Mets were able to bat around for two runs in the following inning curtiousy of Brandon Nimmo that regained the lead for New York.

The biggest question mark for the Mets this year will be how they handled the back end of their bullpen. Drew Smith, Brooks Raley and
David Robertson  pitched an almost perfect three innings on route to an opening day win that adds to their impressive run of opening
day record.

Today hasn't solved anything in terms of how well the Mets bullpen will be this year. They won 101 games last year and a 101 win team shouldn't
need a lights out closer to win their division. However, with the Atlanta Braves poised to be just as good as last year, the importance will
come on how well the Mets do on a few road trips. This team had a 10 game lead at one point last year

I'm more concerned how other teams in our division do. This is going to be a marathon but it does feel good to get off on the right
foot.
