The Canucks have a deep prospect pool for the first time in a number of years. Despite trading away a number of draft picks over the last five years, the Canucks have put together a list of B- or C+ players that are on the brink of contributing to the Canucks in the next few years or sooner.
Until any of these players play valuable minutes in the post season, the average fan won't understand the importance of developing their farm system however, I very curious to see if any of these players can do that in the near future.
Riley Patterson led the Canucks prospects in points this year with 25 goals and 34 helpers. I believe about half of these players will play for Vancouver at some point. I can't wait for Willander makes his debut as I believe he is closer to a A- prospect than B-.
For me, I wonder how many Canucks prospects will play in a Canucks playoff game. The Canucks have misused prospects for a long time and they need to get it right this time around.
My sense is that they will sign someone next week to create competition but eventually that phrase gets old. They lost Podkolzin to a rival last summer because they signed too many on July 1st last year.
As well as Alvin has done with Abbotsford his seat feels semi warm. We can't be wasting Quinn Hughes' good years.
If five of these players listed below can bloom into reliable NHL's Vancouver should be in decent shape.
