Will Oregon get back to the College Football Playoff? With the uncertainty of the Pac 12 conference things seem unstable, it is very curious to see what this all looks like.
It seems like the Big 10 and SEC will one day be 20 teams each. I wonder if that will even make it feel like a conference. This would mean Oregon would visit every Big 10 stadium around every four years. So, how would Oregon fair?
Let's take at UCLA's schedule next year compared to Oregon's schedule this year:
The dates and tines are not announced yet but if Oregon played UCLA's schedule next year I think they go 7-2. Losses to both Iowa and Michigan. Even beating Ohio State and USC are both Top 5 teams. Fresno State is not a push over.
The next thing to consider is will a 9-3 team get into a 12 team playoff. I wouldn't bet on it. 9-3 would likely be the new 10-2. There have been a lot of good 10-2 that should have been a playoff team that weren't.
Oregon this year has three conference games they could potentially lose but they have a higher chance of winning those games. I'll take my chances at Montlake than At Iowa. The other thing to point out is if Oregon goes to the Big 10 we will still have to likely play Oregon State in Non Conference and that is never easy.
Oregon needs to be careful, Clemson has proven you can win Natty outside of the Big 10 and SEC. Even Miami built a powerhouse in the Big East back in the day.
I'm nervous though. Will it lead to better recruits or just more money? I'm curious to see how things unfold.
